Spend three nights in an exclusive wilderness camp in the heart of the Kruger National Park in South Africa. Transfer from Johannesburg International Airport in South Africa to Skukuza in the Kruger National Park. Only 8 people are allowed on the trail, so you are assured of lot of personal attention. An experienced ranger, and a tracker (both exceptionally well versed in the ways of the wild), accompanies your group. Meet your ranger and tracker and then drive by land rover to the wilderness camp. All meals (many of them spent around a roaring camp fire) are included. Accommodation is in rustic two bed wooden huts. A covered lapa serves as a dining/socialising area where the campfire's flickering shadows encourage stories of adventures in the African bush. Each day commences with coffee and rusks in the crisp morning hours. Then it's off in the land rover to an area in the bush chosen by the ranger to start walking (The previous evenings lion roars often determine the spot chosen). A light meal is enjoyed in the bush and brunch awaits you when you return to camp at noon. You are then free to do as you choose until a short walk just before dusk -- catch up on some sleep, after your early morning start. Evenings are spent around the campfire listening to the sounds of the bush and questioning the ranger about his previous wildlife experiences. Drive back to Skukuza on the afternoon of the last day of the holiday competition safari. Transfer back to Johannesburg. Who Can EnterIf you have been on a trip to any of the following nature destinations or activities in the past or intend to go on one in 2007, you qualify to enter this holiday competition:
Why can't people who have never been on one of the trips above (or don't intend on going on one this year), enter? Because the travel report of your previous nature tour (or the one you go on this year) is your entry into the competition, just like entering a photograph in a photographic competition. So please only enter the holiday competition if you have already been on one of these trips in the past. How To EnterSimply fill in the form below, to enter the competition. Please make sure that your contact number is accurate because Bruce Whittaker, the contest sponsor, will call you at that number, to hear about your nature tour experience. He will record your trip report telephonically and make it available in the form of a webpage on the African Safari Journals website so that others can learn and enjoy your experiences and nature tour adventure. (If you have already written your nature journal/trip report, you can e-mail it to him, along with 2 or 3 of your favourite pictures.) All the travel report interviews done before the closing date (31 October) will go into the holiday competition prize draw and the owner of the winning entry will be awarded the Kruger National Park safari holiday prize. So if you have been on one of the relevant nature tours or activities before, or are planning to go on one within this year, fill in your details below. It could win you the safari holiday of a lifetime! By clicking Enter the Competition, you certify that you have read and agree to be bound by the rules of the Safari Journal of the Year holiday Competition.
